The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Captain (Infantry) Moses Veale, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 28 October 1863, while serving with Company F, 109th Pennsylvania Infantry, in action at Wauhatchie, Tennessee, manifesting throughout the engagement coolness, zeal, judgment, and courage. His horse was shot from under him and he was hit by four enemy bullets.
